Five steps into a successful WMS implementation

Implementing a WMS is more than just installing software; it is also a human process. To get the most out of automation, employees must be able to grow with the changes. That is why we offer on-site training and support. Our implementation process consists of five steps.

Step 1: Inventory

We start with an on-site inspection. We analyse your warehouse, your staff and your existing software and hardware. This gives us a complete picture of your processes and operation.

Step 2: Customisation

We familiarise ourselves with your objectives and requirements. Which webshops do you link to? Which carriers do you use? Are any specific adjustments required? This information helps us to develop a customised solution.

Step 3: Testing

We test the system extensively and multiple times to ensure successful implementation. We check the settings and ensure that sufficient picking equipment and staff are available. Everything must work perfectly before going live.

Step 4: Go-live

When everything is ready, we schedule the go-live date. On this day, your warehouse will officially run on MontaWMS. We will be on site to ensure a smooth transition and answer any questions. Employees will receive cards that allow them to earn MontaCoins.

Step 5: Aftercare

After the go-live, we remain closely involved for another three to four weeks. We answer questions and provide advice to ensure that everything continues to run smoothly. After all, most practical questions are only asked after the implementation has taken place.

What does WMS implementation involve?

WMS implementation involves careful consideration of both hardware and software aspects. The hardware concerns the physical layout of the warehouse, including the layout, WiFi quality and the right means of transport and applications. These must be perfectly tailored to the specific needs of the company and the type of products stored. On the other hand, the implementation also focuses on the software configuration of the WMS system itself.

Customised software and hardware

This involves configuring processes, setting up integrations with other systems (such as ERP and web shops) and optimising reporting and analysis capabilities. With us, you can choose to purchase both the software and the hardware. The hardware is optional and offers various possibilities. However, it is not possible to purchase hardware without WMS.

Which companies would benefit from a WMS?

A WMS is particularly beneficial for companies that are growing rapidly and process large numbers of orders on a daily basis. As your company grows, manually processing orders and maintaining an overview becomes increasingly difficult. This not only leads to delays, but also to an increased risk of errors and inefficiency.

A WMS allows you to automate your warehouse processes, enabling you to process more orders with the same capacity while freeing up time for other important business activities, such as purchasing, marketing and sales.

Suitable for B2C and B2B parties

Our WMS can be implemented for both B2C and B2B companies. Our system is ideal for B2C companies if they process more than 100 orders per day. This condition does not apply to B2B companies. This is because most B2B parties usually process multiple order lines per day as standard and are therefore automatically suitable for our software.

What are the benefits of implementing a WMS?

The MontaWMS WMS helps you organise your warehouse processes more efficiently and intelligently. Automation reduces manual tasks, resulting in faster order processing, fewer errors and higher productivity. In addition, a WMS provides better insight into your stock and workflows, allowing you to implement optimisations and better cope with peak periods.

Automated reporting and data analysis allow you to keep track of your logistics performance and continuously improve processes. By ensuring the right alignment between software and hardware, MontaWMS ensures that your warehouse functions optimally, without unnecessary delays or inefficiencies.

Frequently asked questions WMS implementation

What is the purpose of a WMS implementation?

The purpose of implementing a warehouse management system (WMS) is to increase the effectiveness, productivity and accuracy of warehouse management. This is achieved by automating routine tasks and providing real-time insight into stock levels and locations. By enabling faster deliveries and more accurate order processing, it also helps to optimise space utilisation, manage picking and shipping, and increase customer satisfaction.

What is the lead time for our WMS implementation?

The lead time for MontaWMS is influenced by a number of variables, including the complexity of the warehouse, the size of the orders, the effectiveness of the picking and packing procedure, and the logistics of transport. It is challenging to specify a lead time without more details about specific circumstances.

It is important to note that MontaWMS is adaptable and can be tailored to the unique needs of a customer in order to reduce lead times. All in all, we aim to go live with our WMS within two months.

How is the implementation of MontaWMS tested and accepted?

There are various methods for testing and accepting the implementation of MontaWMS. This depends on the specific wishes and requirements of the customer. We use the following popular methods:

  • Functional testing: this verifies that MontaWMS meets the functional specifications and that all functionalities work as intended.
  • Integration testing: This examines the compatibility of MontaWMS with other systems and the integrity of the integration.
  • Performance evaluation: this measures the speed, computing power and stability of MontaWMS.
  • Acceptance testing: the end user tests MontaWMS to see if it meets their needs and if they approve of the system.

For a thorough and comprehensive test and acceptance of the MontaWMS implementation, it is recommended to combine these approaches.
