When is an e-check-to-light a good option?
This process is of interest to customers who have relatively few SKUs (fewer than 30) but a high volume of orders (more than 200 per day). Because picking and e-checking are combined in this process, the team was able to process 250 order lines per hour per employee in the very first week. This effectively combines picking and e-checking into a single step. It is also expected that this number can increase even further through minor optimizations.
What are the advantages of this process:
Higher productivity, thanks to the combination of picking and e-checking;
Shorter order processing time. An order is processed immediately after picking;
Efficient storage, because a portion of each SKU is stored in the flow rack and a portion is stored in bulk.

E-Check to Light
How does the process work?
- Unlike the pick-to-light process, an order is picked directly into a carrier. An order begins by picking a carrier indicated by a lit light.
- After scanning the carrier, the employee can proceed to the remaining lights in the flow rack and pick the items. This is done instead of turning off a light by scanning it during the e-check. If a scan is incorrect, the process does not continue, thereby ensuring reliability.
- Once all items have been scanned, the shipping label is printed automatically. A new order is then opened immediately, and the employee can begin working on the next order by scanning the appropriate container.
