5 Steps to a successful WMS implementation
Implementing a WMS is more than just installing software; it is also a people-centred process. To get the most out of the automation, staff need to be able to adapt to the changes. That is why we offer on-site training and support. Our implementation process consists of five steps.
We begin with an on-site assessment. We analyse your warehouse, your staff, and your existing software and hardware. This gives us a comprehensive overview of your processes and routines.
We get to know your objectives and requirements. Which online shops do you connect to? Which carriers do you use? Are any specific adjustments needed? This information helps us to develop a bespoke solution.
We test the system extensively and on multiple occasions to ensure a successful implementation. We check the settings and ensure that sufficient picking equipment and staff are available. Everything must work perfectly before going live.
Once everything is ready, we schedule the go-live date. On this day, your warehouse officially runs on MontaWMS. We are on site to ensure the transition runs smoothly and to answer any questions. Staff are issued with cards that allow them to earn MontaCoins.
After the go-live, we remain closely involved for a further three to four weeks. We answer questions and provide advice to ensure everything continues to run smoothly. After all, most practical questions only arise once the implementation has taken place.

What is involved in a WMS implementation?
A WMS implementation involves a detailed consideration of both hardware and software aspects. The hardware concerns the physical setup of the warehouse, including layout, Wi-Fi quality and the appropriate handling equipment and applications. These must be perfectly tailored to the specific needs of the business and the type of products stored. On the other hand, the implementation also focuses on the software configuration of the WMS system itself.
Customised software and hardware
This involves configuring processes, setting up integrations with other systems (such as ERP and online shops) and optimising reporting and analysis capabilities. With us, you can choose to purchase both the software and the hardware. The hardware is optional and offers various possibilities. However, it is not possible to purchase hardware alone without the WMS.
Which businesses would benefit from a WMS?
A WMS is particularly beneficial for fast-growing businesses that process large numbers of orders on a daily basis. As your business grows, manually processing orders and maintaining an overview becomes increasingly difficult. This not only leads to delays, but also increases the risk of errors and inefficiency.
With a WMS, you can automate your warehouse processes, enabling you to process more orders with the same capacity whilst freeing up time for other key business activities, such as procurement, marketing and sales.

Suitable for B2C and B2B businesses
Our WMS can be implemented for both B2C and B2B companies. For B2C businesses, our system is a good fit if they process more than 100 orders a day. This requirement does not apply to B2B companies, as most B2B businesses typically process multiple order lines per day as standard and are therefore automatically suitable for our software.
What are the benefits of implementing a WMS?
MontaWMS’s WMS helps you organise your warehouse processes more efficiently and intelligently. Automation reduces manual tasks, leading to faster order processing, fewer errors and higher productivity. In addition, a WMS provides better insight into your stock and workflows, enabling you to implement optimisations and better manage peak periods.
With automated reporting and data analysis, you can keep a firm grip on your logistics performance and continuously improve processes. By ensuring the right alignment between software and hardware, MontaWMS ensures that your warehouse operates optimally, without unnecessary delays or inefficiencies.
Frequently asked questions about WMS implementation
The purpose of implementing a warehouse management system (WMS) is to enhance the effectiveness, productivity and accuracy of warehouse management. This is achieved through the automation of routine tasks and real-time visibility of stock levels and their locations. Through faster deliveries and more accurate order processing, it also helps to optimise space utilisation, manage picking and dispatch, and increase customer satisfaction.
WMS implementation lead timeThe lead time for MontaWMS is influenced by a number of variables, including the complexity of the warehouse, the size of the orders, the efficiency of the picking and packing procedures, and transport logistics. It is difficult to specify a lead time without further details regarding specific circumstances.
It is important to note that MontaWMS is customisable and can be adapted to a customer’s unique needs to reduce implementation times. All in all, we aim to go live with our WMS within two months.
There are various methods for testing and accepting the implementation of MontaWMS. This depends on the customer’s specific wishes and requirements. We use the following popular methods:
- Functional testing: this verifies that MontaWMS complies with the functional specifications and that all functionalities work as intended.
- Integration testing: this examines the compatibility of MontaWMS with other systems and the integrity of the integration.
- Performance evaluation: this measures the speed, processing power and stability of MontaWMS.
- Acceptance testing: the end user tests MontaWMS to see if it meets their needs and whether they approve of the system. For a thorough and comprehensive test and acceptance of the MontaWMS implementation, it is recommended to combine these approaches.
