Meet ELLA

ELLA stands for Ecommerce Logistics Learning Assistent. The platform consists of 10 agents working together on a dedicated MCP server. This is unique in the logistics sector, where external partners are usually used to develop AI tools. Monta developed ELLA entirely in-house and linked it directly to its own database, documentation and a rich history of customer questions and solutions.

Sua Wilhelm, Software Developer at Monta: “The great thing about ELLA is that we designed and built the core ourselves, from the infrastructure to the way AI is applied. This means that ELLA fits in perfectly with practice and allows us to continue developing rapidly. We have now reached a point where employees and customers are helping to further develop ELLA by working with it. That is typical of Monta: continuously innovating our software together with our colleagues and customers based on practical experience.”

What ELLA brings to the logistics sector

Starting today, ELLA acts as a lightning-fast, informative assistant in Monta’s software. She can be seen as a guide in the software and answers questions such as ‘What is the status of order X?’, but she can also direct you to the right page within Monta’s software (including URL) where you, as a user, can see and adjust the status of the order yourself.

Interactions with ELLA are securely stored within Monta and form the basis for continuous improvement of the knowledge base and documentation. Questions that do not yet have a ready-made answer are forwarded by ELLA to Monta’s service desk. This maintains personal contact with people, but helps customers find the right solution much more quickly.

Leonard Aerts, CEO at Monta: “At Monta, we believe that robotisation is only truly valuable if it remains human. Robots automate processes, but people provide connection, nuance and trust. This combination allows us to keep the threshold for interaction low, both today and in the future. Whether in our warehouses or in an AI tool, technology and people always reinforce each other. That is why we are making this feature available to all our WMS and fulfilment customers at no extra cost.”

Evolving ELLA: from informative to generative

But ELLA’s ambition goes further. In the course of 2026, Monta will add Agentic AI to ELLA in addition to its informative functions. This will make it possible not only to request or display the order status in the software, for example, but also to perform actions by means of prompts. Think, for example, of blocking an order or starting a post-investigation. ELLA will also appear in more and more places in our warehouse software, such as in the hand scanners and the inbound and e-check applications.

Rachel Egas, Head of IT at Monta: “With ELLA, we are showing that innovation at Monta does not stop at beautiful dreams for the future, but becomes reality every day. Thanks to ELLA, we can help customers and colleagues faster, better, and more personally with the right support at the right time. I also love that with a name like ELLA – literally the international term for “woman” – we are adding a touch of femininity to our sector. Especially now that we are seeing more and more women making a big and visible impact in e-commerce.”
